Underlying all systems of injustice, racism and oppression are the narratives that justify how, and why these systems are the way they are. Nobody, not even the church is immune to these destructive narratives. Changing these systems means changing the stories we believe, and tell about them. At Isiphambano we believe it’s Gospel-centred justice which changes the narrative for good!
Join a small community of other Christians grappling with the intersection of faith and justice, and between context and Scripture. Exploring foundational issues such as the holistic gospel, the mission and history of the church and the pursuit of shalom. As well as grappling with contemporary issues such as racism, decolonisation, reconciliation and restitution.
The sanitised and spiritualised Christmas story we portray is often rather foreign to the reality of that first Christmas. That first Christmas story was anything but good news to the powerful, well-fed and respectable. It was the shout of liberation for the oppressed, comfort for the mourning, and inclusion for the shamed and outcast. It is a story of betrayal, power, violence, redemption, inclusion and hope. #changethenarrative this Christmas and join us for this three part series as we re-think the Christmas story and our place in it.
THE STORY OF
The Story of the Church is a pilgrimage through the Cape Town CBD, exploring the role of the church as both an agent of oppression and injustice and an instrument of liberation and hope.
A ONCE OFF GIFT
Like many NPOs and Christian organisations, Isiphambano has seen our funding shrink drastically since the start of 2020. We now find ourselves in an urgent financial situation.
Help us #changethenarrative by raising a minimum of R 40 000 in once-off donations or gifts to enable us to get through the next 6 months.
A MONTHLY DONOR
Unfortunately, like many other NPOs, Isiphambano currently finds itself in an urgent financial situation having lost more than 2/3 of our regular monthly giving since the start of 2020. The security of regular and intentional giving helps us to budget wisely, plan strategically and make key appointments to enable us to continue to #changethenarrative. Help us #changethenarrative by raising a further R10 000 per month in regular giving.
A COHORT PARTICIPANT
Every year we commit to raising the funds to cover the costs for our cohort participants who require full or partial financial assistance.
Assist us to continue to #changethenarrative in 2021 by raising R13,000 to cover cohort fees.
